Tell us about your company
Cloud Campaign is building the operating system for the rapidly growing economy of marketing agencies and freelancers. The company is built around the people and culture that make it run smoothly day in and day out. The team is output-focused and always striving to solve hard problems. We're backed by amazing local investors in our backyards of Boulder, CO and Portland, OR.
Why did you start your company?
A macro-shift has been happening over the past decade where more and more brands (79%) are hiring marketing agencies and, at the same time, these digital agencies are underserved, forced to use brand solutions to run their business. In 2017, we identified this gap in the market and quickly built the first version of Cloud Campaign, starting with the biggest pain point for marketing agencies — social media management. Since then, the company has grown to nearly 30 team members supporting 1,000 agencies that manage marketing for 15,000 brands globally.
Why does your work matter?
We are democratizing starting, running, and growing a marketing agency. If you have creative skills, Cloud Campaign will enable you to start your own business in less than 20 minutes with a pre-populated portfolio, built-in invoicing, and all of the marketing automation tools you need at your disposal.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Spending your time solving tough problems that matter and working with a supportive team to get the job done. Also, living a balanced life and finding meaning outside of work.
What is your most marked characteristic?
Sometimes skewing on the side of stubborness, perseverance is my most marked characteristic, and also the largest contributor of Cloud Campaign's success.
What is your greatest fear?
My greatest fear is dropping the rope while lead climbing... but actually, public speaking was one of my larger fears up until recently. In 2019, as the culmination of Boulder Startup Week, I had the opportunity to present Cloud Campaign to 1,000 guests at Boulder Theater and the preparation for this event helped me overcome my fear of public speaking.
What is your motto?
Just because you can build something doesn't mean you should.
